SOZO Bioimpedance Analyser
At Power Potential Healthcare Group, SOZO Bioimpedance Technology is used as part of our rehabilitation, recovery, wellness, lymphatic, and performance services to provide detailed insights into body composition, fluid balance, cellular health, and lymphatic function.
SOZO is an advanced, non-invasive assessment system that uses clinically validated Bioimpedance Spectroscopy (BIS) technology to assess how fluid and tissue are distributed throughout the body. The technology captures highly detailed information relating to hydration status, lean muscle mass, body fat composition, extracellular fluid balance, and overall cellular health.
By identifying fluid imbalances, changes in body composition, lymphatic changes, and recovery trends, SOZO assists our clinicians in developing more targeted rehabilitation, exercise, recovery, wellness, and performance programs tailored to the individual.
SOZO Body Composition & L-DEX Assessment
Advances in health technology now allow clinicians to assess the body’s internal composition and fluid balance with remarkable precision. The SOZO Body Composition Analyser uses bioimpedance spectroscopy (BIS) to provide detailed insights into body composition, hydration status and lymphatic fluid balance.
This non-invasive assessment is widely used in clinical healthcare, rehabilitation, sports performance and lymphatic monitoring. At Power Potential, SOZO technology helps our clinicians track subtle physiological changes that may not be detectable through traditional measurements.
What is SOZO Bioimpedance Technology?
SOZO works by sending a very low, painless electrical current through the body and measuring how the current travels through different tissues.
Because muscle, fat, and fluid conduct electrical signals differently, the system can accurately estimate body composition and fluid distribution throughout the body.
The test is quick, safe and typically takes less than one minute to complete.
SOZO assessments provide valuable insights that can assist with performance monitoring, rehabilitation planning, recovery tracking and early detection of fluid changes.
What is an L-DEX Score?
The L-DEX score (Lymphedema Index) is a measurement produced by SOZO technology that assesses fluid balance between limbs.
It is primarily used to detect early signs of lymphatic fluid changes, particularly in individuals who may be at risk of lymphoedema.
By measuring extracellular fluid levels in the arms or legs, the L-DEX score allows clinicians to identify subtle fluid changes before visible swelling occurs.
This early detection allows for earlier intervention and better management of lymphatic health.
Why L-DEX Monitoring Matters
Lymphoedema occurs when the lymphatic system is unable to effectively drain fluid, leading to swelling in affected limbs.
Regular L-DEX monitoring allows clinicians to:
- Detect early fluid changes before swelling becomes visible
• Monitor patients at risk of lymphoedema following surgery or cancer treatment
• Track progress during lymphatic therapy or rehabilitation
• Guide treatment decisions and recovery strategies
Early detection is extremely important, as intervention at early stages can significantly improve long-term outcomes.
Body Composition Insights with SOZO
In addition to lymphatic monitoring, SOZO assessments provide detailed information about body composition and fluid balance.
Measurements may include:
- Lean body mass
• Fat mass
• Body fat percentage
• Total body water
• Intracellular and extracellular fluid balance
• Segmental body composition (arms, legs, trunk)
These insights are valuable for athletes, rehabilitation patients and individuals monitoring their health and recovery.
Benefits of SOZO Assessments
SOZO technology provides a number of advantages compared to traditional body composition measurements.
Benefits include:
- Fast and non-invasive assessment
• Clinically validated technology
• Highly sensitive detection of fluid changes
• Ability to track changes over time
• Valuable data to support rehabilitation and recovery programs
Because the technology is highly sensitive, even small changes in fluid balance or body composition can be detected, allowing clinicians to make informed decisions about treatment and recovery strategies.
What to Expect During Your Assessment
A SOZO assessment is quick, simple and comfortable.
During the test you will:
- Stand on the SOZO device barefoot
• Hold the hand electrodes for approximately 30 seconds
• Remain still while the scan is completed
Results are generated immediately and can be reviewed with your clinician to guide health, recovery or performance planning.
